Our CHI-EDGE-EX model edge lit exit signs are specifically built to meet the demands of the City of Chicago Fire Code and are Chicago Plenum approved. If your business operates anywhere within the Windy City, you must abide by these codes when placing exit signs and emergency lights.
Our Chicago edge lit exit sign has a larger 'exit' lettering stroke than most signs require and the stencil can only be red in color. The aluminum housing is thicker and more robust while directional arrows must be larger; placed under the word 'exit', rather than on the sides like most signs.

Application
The Chicago edge lit exit sign is a great choice for our city's luxurious hotels, financial institutions, graphic design firms and up-scale corporate offices. They offer the lowest profile of any of our exit sign models and appear to almost 'float' in the air
An included universal mounting bracket allows for easy installation to a 3" or 4" J-box. The same mount can be used for a variety of styles: ceiling, wall or end-mounted.
External Specifications
The CHI-EDGE-EX has a stronger aluminum housing than other sign models to meet the city's strict rules for emergency equipment. The wedge shaped acrylic lens panel hangs down from the housing and has a white insert to better contrast the exit lettering and increase visibility.
The 'exit' letters are only available in red and must be 8" wide with a 1/2" stroke (compared to the 6" x 3/4" standard exit models). Sufficient space at the bottom will accommodate a directional arrow pointing left or right.
Internal Specifications
All the sign components including the backup battery and electronics are located within the aluminum housing. A solid-state transfer circuit protects the battery contacts from corrosion and pitting caused by a power spike while the brownout circuit automatically toggles the emergency battery when AC power drops below 10%.
