The HZXLC series hazardous location exit sign and emergency light combo fixtures are designed to fulfill both lighting and exit sign needs into one efficient unit. Explosion proof fixtures are necessary for those spaces where flammable gases and vapors are present. Such hazardous materials can ignite if exposed to an electrical spark caused by the circuit boards of emergency fixtures. The HZXLC is designed to keep all of its elcectronics hermetically sealed to prevent such catastrophe.
Class 1 division 1 exit sign combos can be installed in petroleum refineries, aircraft hangers and utility gas plants. Appliances in these industrial facilities must be able to withstand abuse as heavy work such as forklift operation are common. Explosionproof lighting must be built with the strongest materials so that the airtight seal is not broken accidentally.
The HZXLC has a copper-free cast-aluminum housing with a spinoff cover that is lined with a dense gasket for hermetic sealing. A hardened epoxy finish is applied to the exterior of the fixture for corrosion and heat resistance that also makes it a great weatherproof fixture as well.
These Class 1 division 1 combo units have a stainless steel drain to bleed off any moisture buildup in the unit. For further protection, the circuit board is coated with a thin silicon coating to prevent corrosion from humid weather. The exit sign portion uses LED strips which consume less than 5 watts of electricity.
The HZXLC comes with a 6-volt 25-watt HIT (High Intensity Tungsten) lamp. The lamps are fully directional and have a Pyrex lens with an optional guard or reflectors.
This can also be swapped with 12-watt and 18-watt HIT lamps. A lower wattage lamp head will extend the battery run time past 90-minutes.
The HZXLC Series Explosionproof Exit Sign Combo comes with a 6-volt 50-watt Nickel Cadmium battery that has a lifespan of 5-7 years. The battery is maintenance-free.
Red or Green Letters - Both are accepted in most cities in the USA.
Single and Double Face - For single and multiple exit locations.
Time-Delay - This option is ideal for installations with fluorescent and HID general lighting. This feature keeps the lamp heads illuminated for a set period (usually 15 minutes) after power is restored since fluorescent and HID lights can take 10-15 minutes to reach full illumination.
