The EPEL Class 1 division 2 and Class 2 Division 2 emergency lighting fixture is designed for industrial locations where combustible dust particles are present in the atmosphere. The National Electric Code (NEC) requires such hazardous light circuitry to be contained in an airtight fixture to prevent exploding of the hazardous material due to electrical sparking.
Such Class 2 division 1 locations can include coal mines, aluminum powder storage warehouses and starch manufacturing plants.
The EPEL Class 1 division 2 and Class 2 Division 2 emergency light has a fiberglass-reinforced gray polyester body that is fully gasketed to prevent the intrusion of flammable dust particulates. This design also makes these units flame-retardant and impact resistant so that it continues to illuminate in a fire or external concussion. All hardware including head lamps are corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
EPEL emergency lighting fixtures use brilliant PAR 36 halogen lamps that are top-mounted and fully adjustable. A third remote lamp head may be installed. Lights may be completely removed, making the unit a power source for other emergency devices.
A UL tested and approved 6 volt 25 watt sealed lead calcium battery will provide 90 minutes of illumination. Higher capactiy batteries or NiCad batteries are also available when you custom order your EPEL unit.
Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery - compact cells will last up to 7 years and makes the overall fixture lighter. Ideal for lower shipping costs
Self testing system - automatic monthly and yearly diagnostics greatly reduce maintenance costs
Voltmeter - visual readout of the battery's voltage level
Ammeter - visual readout of the electrical current being consumed
