Overview
Emergency lights and exit signs must provide 90 minutes of emergency illumination during a power failure as per NFPA 101 and UL guidelines. This 90 minute duration has been set as the minimum alloted time for building occupants to reach a safety.
Many commercial and industrial buildings , however, require a much longer runtime, especially town halls or gyms that have been designated evacuation areas. 12 hour emergency lights are also ideal in locations prone to rolling blackouts.
Features
12 hour emergency lights come standard with the following:
Application
Twelve hour emergency lights can be used in the following environments:
External
12 hour emergency lights have a 20-gauge steel housing with a baked enamel powder-coated finish to prevent corrosion. Standard finish is white but you may request almost any primary color you wish. Call for availability.
Steel emergency lights offer a degree of protection from external duress which might harm the internal circuitry. A universal mounting pattern and keyhole slots are stamped on the back which can attach to any conduit point.
Internal
You may request custom voltages when ordering, or you can change them at will by swapping out the lights, circuit boards and battery.
Lamp Specifications
Dual Par36 style, 9-watt lamp are molded form high impact thermoplastic. They can rotate in any direction and may be side or top mounted. Make sure to specify your preference when placing an order.
12 hour fixtures can be modified to provide illumination for large and small spaces. Other wattages may be selected including 12, 18, 25, 30, 35, 55, and even 70-watt lamp heads.
Battery
Designed with a maintenance-free, sealed valve-regulated lead-acid battery that provides a minimum emergency duration of 90 minutes (for the listed rating). The recharge time of the battery is less than 48 hours. The maximum working temperature is 45°C. The minimum working temperature is 10°C. Nickel-cadmium batteries are available as an option.
Options
Self-testing - this feature continuously checks the battery backup and circuitry and will eliminate the need for monthly light tests. However you will still need to inspect and clean the unit once a year.
Time-Delay -Necessary for exteriors, pools or sports arenas which use HID lighting such as sodium vapor or metal halide lights. HIDs require 15 minutes to reach full intensity even after short power failures. This feature keeps the unit running during this warm-up time after power has been restored.
