The Battery Backup Light is an emergency light that automatically turns on when AC power to the building has been lost. It allows occupants 90 minutes of illumination so occupants may orderly find their way to the nearest exit. The included battery constantly charges when AC power is available, ensuring a full charge at all times. Battery Backup Lights are necessary not only for building safety, but also to be compliant with UL standards throughout North America.
The Battery Backup Light is designed for indoor use and housed in a durable thermoplastic that comes by default in a white finish, but can also be ordered in black if desired. Rugged housing combined with a long lasting and reliable battery makes this fixture a reliable source of emergency light for years to come. This fixture easily mounts to ceilings and walls of most nonflammable surfaces for a variety of applications in commercial buildings, apartments, or hospitals. Emergency lights with durable steel housing and fiberglass housing for wet location applications are also available.

External
Thermoplastic housing is light, durable, affordable, and designed to last. The low profile design of the standard white housing fits the aesthetic of many schools, malls, apartments, and multitude of commercial environments.
Internal
The Battery Backup Light uses 120V and 277V AC electricity to power the unit and charge the battery when not in use. Standard safety features include low voltage disconnect, AC lockout, and brownout protection to ensure reliable emergency illumination.

The thermoplastic Battery Backup Light comes standard with two wedge based 5.4-watt lamp heads that are adjustable for maximum illumination in any environment.
Battery
The Battery Backup Light uses a 6-volt 4.5-amp sealed lead acid battery that will support 90 minutes of emergency illumination when AC power is lost. Higher capacity batteries are also available for extended illumination times. A 6-volt 7-amp battery comes standard in the remote capable Battery Backup Light and can support up to two additional remotely located lamp heads.
The Battery Backup Light's battery will automatically charge when connected to AC power and is fully charged in 24 hours. The sealed lead acid battery lasts, on average, for 3 to 5 years and requires both monthly and yearly tests to comply with OSHA testing requirements. The maximum working temperature for this battery is 122º F.

- Self testing: the fixture will constantly monitor the integrity of internal components and display results via LED lights for easy maintenance.
- Nickel cadmium battery: only available in steel and wet location battery backup emergency light fixtures, Ni-Cd batteries are smaller, easier to replace, and last for 5 to 7 years.
Durability
Thermoplastic housing is durable, but designed only for indoor use. It should not be used in locations containing flammable gases or vapors, nor should it be installed in wet locations. Fixtures with durable steel housing and weatherproof fiberglass housing that will withstand rain, snow, and sleet are also available.
Appeal
The Battery Backup Light comes in both white and black thermoplastic housing that will fit into a variety of commercial applications. The steel version of this fixture features a baked enamel white powder finish that is impervious to chipping and corrosion. The wet location version of the Battery Backup Light uses a gray fiberglass housing to seal out water while keeping internal components safe from otherwise damaging moisture.
