The Class 1 Division 2 edge lit exit sign is one of the most affordable yet stylish exit signage applicable to explosive environments. The HLEX is rated for Class 1, Division 2 spaces where flammable gasses or vapors are present in the atmosphere and at such quantities to spark an explosion. Electronics in such areas must have sufficient airtight cabinets to prevent circuitry from igniting a dangerous chain reaction.

Application
This Class 1 Division 2 exit sign can be mounted directly to a wall, or at the ends for flag mounting. A ceiling pendant mount configuration can also be ordered. The sign can be mounted indoors or outdoors in the harshest Marine locations. These are popular egress fixtures on offshore oil platforms, paint spray rooms and refineries. The housing is sealed by a silicon O-ring gasket, ensuring the electronics will not be affected by flammable gases, vapors or dust.
External Specifications
The signs 'exit' legend is beveled into the clear acrylic sign panel in a UL-approved 6.5" lettering. A white sheet is inserted between the acrylic panel to increase visibility and accentuate the exit legend. The housing is made from impact-resistant cast aluminum that is given a baked-on epoxy outer coating for added weather protection.
Internal Specifications
When this C1 D2 edge lit exit sign is connected to AC power, only the 'exit' legend and the outer edge of the panel will light up. This is accomplished by a red or green LED strip secured inside the housing, coupled with a fully integrated electronic circuit board and sealed by the gasket. LEDs consume less than 5 watts of AC electricity, qualifying the sign as an Energy Star rated fixture.
AC power is fed to the unit via two 1/2" NPT conduit hubs on either side of the housing. For ceiling/pendant mounting configurations a third NPT is located at the top of the housing. Minimal periodic maintenance is required to keep the sign at 100% emergency efficiency. A 90 second monthly test and a yearly 90 minute test is all that is required. Purchase a Self Diagnostic feature to reduce maintenance even further.
