And since you will need an emergency lighting fixtures close to your exit sign anyway, why not combine the two? Doing so will decrease overall unit and shipping cost and will continue saving you money over time since only one battery and one unit needs to be maintained.
Best of all, their vandal proof features also make combo units water and weather proof as well. They are even UL Listed for Wet Locations just in case a nosey compliance officer scrutinizes your lighting setup.

Application
The VP-COMBO is also an attractive luminary on top of it's extreme durability. An external LED charge indicator and push-to-test switch makes monthly and yearly diagnostics is a breeze. The exit sign will stay on at all times while the lamps are kept off until the unit detects a drop in AC power.
Both the sign and lamps will continue to illuminate for at least 90 minutes on battery reserve power. These are choice luminaries in areas prone to vandalism such as low-rent apartment complexes, public parks, schools and correctional facilities.
External Specifications
The VP-COMBO is constructed with a .420" thick heavy duty cast aluminum housing that comes standard with a black or white powder coated finish. A clear 1/8" thick polycarbonate faceplate protects the exit stencil and is secured by four (4) stainless steel screws which can only be removed with a special tool.
The MR 16 lamps are encased in a similar polycarbonate housing that protects the lamps without impeding illumination. A rubber o-ring gasket seals both shields and protects internal components from outside water and moisture
Internal Specifications
A two-stage transformer in the exit sign housing efficiently cycle charges and the NiCad battery to its highest pre-set voltage level. Once charged it maintains the battery through a trickle charge. The stencil is lit by a red or green LED light strip.
Emergency lamps are either 6 volt (5, 10W) or 12V (10, 20W) MR 16 heads.
