Overview
The wheelchair exit sign is an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) approved exit fixture that distinguishes those egress points that are wheelchair accessible. During an emergency power failure, the LED-lit wheelchair exit sign points disabled occupants to the nearest exit that they can access.
The EX-WC is a popular fixture in hospitals and retirement communities that have a large amount of physically handicapped occupants. These exit signs use very little power and will last between 8 and 10 years.
Features
Wheelchair exit signs can be mounted directly to any wall surface or 3" junction box. The sign can also be ceiling mounted using an optional aluminum mounting bracket. This is a universal exit sign because it already comes double-sided so the EX-WC can be observed from either side. Additional panels are included to easily convert the sign to a single-sided unit.
The EX-WC is made of flame-retardant thermoplastic and has 'exit' panels with the universal 'wheelchair man' printed on either side of the fixture. The panels can easily be removed without a tool to access the internal components or to modify the unit into a single or double-sided sign.
By removing the faceplates you can quickly access the exit sign's inner workings which includes the LED strip, transformer, circuitry and Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) backup battery.
25 year expected.
